Aix-les-Bains
VISITING AIX-LES-BAINS
Treat yourself to a stay out of time in Aix-les-Bains, the little Venice of Savoie with its charming Savière canal leading to the iridescent Lac du Bourget.
This spa resort is one of Savoie’s best-kept secrets boasting incredible serene landscapes. Admire the raw beauty of its natural colourful scenery, preserved ecosystem with lush flora and countless species of birds (ducks, coots, grebes, moorhens, herons…) including some migratory ones lured in by the mild climate.
Aix-les-bains delights holidaymakers who come to explore its beautiful coastline, as well as the mountains and forests overlooking the lake, not forgetting the floral park and Japanese gardens. The culturally-vibrant town displays much of the French and Savoie history and art of living, with historical monuments (Roman remains, Castle, Abbey, Museum), leisure activities (music festivals, cinema, casino) or relaxation havens (Spa, beach…).
Aix-les-Bains is also an ideal destination for active holidays where hikers can enjoy the breathtaking panoramas from the belvederes overlooking the lake (by boat, bike or segway). The region also has a host of surprises in store, from sporty mountain passes for cyclers or mountain bikers, paragliding and via ferrata for thrill-seekers, as well as numerous water sports and fun activities for all ages (paddle bikes, cyclo Lac, wakeboarding, water skiing, canoeing and much more…).
The town is home to several top-of-the-range hotels for a romantic getaway such as the Incomparable on the banks of Lac du Bourget. The 5* intimate boutique-hotel offers a dreamy interlude where time seems to stand still and senses are awakened: whether in the newly starred gastronomic restaurant of chef Antoine Cevos-Mamy with its gourmet menu featuring local products, or the Black Diamond Luxury spa to be gently pampered with a swimming pool, sauna and massages.
