The Great Outdoors

Ski & other snow sports

Val Thorens has received many prizes for its ski facilities and infrastructures over the last 50 years. Holidaymakers are delighted by the high mountain location offering various possibilities, whether in Val Thorens with 150 km of slopes or by exploring the 600 km large 3 Valleys resort all the way to Méribel, Les Ménuires or Courchevel. Val Thorens is one of the most accessible resorts with slopes for all levels (half of which are blue and green slopes) and beginners including children’s areas. Explore the resort in its most secret corners or safely venture on off-piste runs with your certified instructors (ESF, Maison des Guides). Alternatively, other snowsports options include snowshoeing, telemark skiing, cross-country skiing, and boardercross, not forgetting the fun areas and snowparks and access for handicapped skiers.

One-of-a-kind activities

For those who love the sound of compacted snow, there’s nothing better than a ride in a snow groomer or a safe run on the electric Fat Bike with its oversized wheels to whizz through the powder snow. Thrill seekers will like drifting at the wheel of a car on the dedicated ice circuit, the steep climbs on the iced waterfalls or the 1,800m-long Bee zip line with its 65m vertical drop. Other activities include go-karting, snowmobiling or dog sledging.

Fun and children’s activities

Try out your pirouettes and tricks on the skating rink, Try snow tubing, or the snakegliss down the dedicated run or cosmojet sledging on the longest track in France for some carefree fun with friends. Everyone can have fun in the snow!

For those who are still a bit too young though, the resort offers many dedicated leisure areas including ski schools to go on a treasure hunt (from 3 years old), on a torch run or to run around in the Téléphérique playground. Alternatively, the resort has a creche/kindergarten in the warmth of the forum centre (from 0 to 3 years old).
