The Alpe d'Huez Village
Loved for its traditional atmosphere and the charming villages down the valley, the warm and welcoming resort has preserved more than a few remarkable historical monuments: the Notre-Dame des Neiges church in a contemporary style reminiscent of Le Corbusier with its unique organ or the square tower next to the church, the original wash houses and renovated farms in the village of Huez.
The resort with easy access alternates between the more authentic charm of the Vieil-Alpe to the west and the lively Centre Jeux, to find leisure activities and high-end accommodations such as the Daria-I Nor sitting hillside. The neighbouring Bergers district to the northeast has more modern accommodations while holidaymakers also enjoy shopping at the Eclose district to the south.

Cyclists ready for a challenge come to test themselves against the 21 mythical bends to finish up top with stars in their eyes. The resort is also a wonderful playground for mountain bikers thanks to the summer lifts giving easy access to many secure paths and marked trails to ride down the mountains in fun or competitive modes (sign up for the Mégavalanche race). The snow is gone leaving evergreen hills and sleek roads to explore at your own pace thanks to the various options of e-bikes on hire.
HIKING AND NATURE
Alpe d’Huez offers a good selection of historical hikes and panoramic trails (Maquis de l’Oisans) for trekking or finding some serenity by practising yoga in the middle of nature.
